The above pages appeared in The Besssssst of Whizzer and Chips Monthly, December 1984. There are four 2-page Krazy Gang reprints in the Chips section of that issue, but in each case the first page has been paired with a wrong second page (I've matched the correct pages above). Fortunately all the correct concluding pages are present, albeit mismatched, so all four adventures can be enjoyed by flipping through the pages.
UPDATE 18 April 2019 - Many thanks to Stephen Archer who has identified Whizzer and Chips dated 08 December 1979 as the issue in which the above strip originally appeared.

If I’m not wrong this was only the 2nd or 3rd BOW&CM; recall reading it near the end of ’84 aged 11. The strange thing is why you’re depending on it to resolve this burning issue? I’d assume due to a lack of original W&Cs for this period; which’d mean you don’t know the date. Want me to check it out at BL?
ReplyDeleteI was rereading this BOW&CM a few days ago. Have read it numerous times in the past but on this occasion the socks thing struck me as a good wheeze for a post. I do have the original W&C but didn't have the time to search through multiple issues to find the one in question. If you are able to track it down that would be great.
DeleteIt's from 8/12/79. If I'd had the sense to read the reprint carefully, I'd have seen the reference to "just before Christmas" & might've saved myself the bother of wading through the preceding 48 issues. Sigh.
