Yikky-Boo - Supplemental

I forgot to include this bit in my post on Yikky-Boo...

Yikky's name and exclamation may have been inspired by the Lurgi Strikes Britain episode of vintage BBC Radio comedy series The Goon Show. In that programme, victims of the dreaded Lurgi are heard to exclaim 'Eeeeeeeeh Yakka-Boo' as they succumb to the malady. A transcript can be found here and an excerpt can be heard here.

    1. I've never really decided whether I like The Goons or not - Sellers and Secombe always seem to enjoy it immensely (by all accounts Milligan was under huge pressure to generate the scripts at times, so he may not have been having such a good time). Consequently there often seems to be (to me) a huge whiff of private jokes and self-indulgence about it. However, it's probably just me as the show was undoubtedly a phenomenon in its day, and hugely influential on post-war British humour.
