The Great News For All Readers blog is looking back at issues of Cheeky Weekly and Plug cover-dated today (19th August). I think I only bought the first issue of Plug, so David's summary of the contents of this issue is very informative. The edition of Cheeky Weekly under the GNFAR spotlight is the '60 years into the future' issue which is probably my favourite of all the toothy funster's comics, and David does it justice in his review.

A Look Back at a Look Forward

I suppose I can’t blame you for not sticking with Plug; only read it myself around 1981 when my nan obtained a near-complete run from a jumble sale or some such. With hindsight, and having reread it at BL now and again, it wasn’t up to much regardless of the fun I had placing the issues in chronological order as a child. (It’d be too cruel to say that that was the only entertainment I derived; the Sesame Street-style monster in The Bandshees were good for the occasional titter.) It's a shame there weren't any references to Plug in Cheeky or vice versa, with each titular character complaining his counterpart had stolen his look.
ReplyDeleteHow about a Cheeky/Plug crossover sponsored by the British Dental Association?
