I didn't suspect there were changes to the caption as well, so that's interesting. Thanks also for your research on the source issues of W&C for the specific Dinger episodes - that will allow me to enter those details into my comics database. I've updated the above post to refer readers to your comment. I hope one day to track down the origin issue for each of the reprints used in the Cheeky publications, and also all the comics in which Cheeky-related strips were reprinted. Being realistic, I'll probably never finish that task.Niblethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09073399687897131919noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8214345292716209353.post-54142797330788511622021-06-17T18:00:05.917+01:002021-06-17T18:00:05.917+01:00Your guess that Dinger originally said “this week”...Your guess that Dinger originally said “this week” instead of “today” is correct, and W&C 16/1/71 was when he said it. Also, the caption read “…setS out to try the gadget AGAIN!” (Caps mine to differentiate between original and reprint, not for emphasis). This is because the strip had only started in W&C two weeks before. The other strips were first published as follows: Jolly Roger (30/1/71); Jester (17/4/71) and Dinger’s double (29/5/71).STEPHEN ARCHERhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01891283612737580789noreply@blogger.com
